Todat I met this very nice and friendly grandpa sitting inside a market called 'Pasar Baroe'. It's for my photojournalism course.

Just wondering would horizontal shot be better.

Very nice capture!......the whites are overposed or pushed too high.....I would work the shirt on another layer.

Agree with Carlos & Florin !
Remember a composition also depends on the brightest points in an image.
They attract the eye first. So also areas with higher contrast.
Contrast can be increased/decreased by selectively applying curves for different layers.
